Living in West Texas and visiting Marfa has been an eye-opening experience. Heat, dryness, light, expanses of nothingness and sunsets have amazed and mesmerized my senses. These paintings explore those sensations and the emotions underneath.

The story of Eve, the first female, is the inspiration for this exploration of the feminine. She is such an interesting figure, as she is both nurturer (mother of us all) and temptress. As I painted her I considered the duality of her character and tried to show the freedom she felt in the garden and / or the shame she experienced after choosing to rebel and eat the forbidden fruit.
