Every now and then serendipity strikes. Earlier this year I was looking for a space to do my creative work. Painting struck my fancy and I felt the need to find a studio in which to hone my skills. I considered purchasing a small space but wasn't sure I could make it work. Then, as if almost by design, I happened upon The Studio Gallery.
This gallery, which is housed in a modest space next to a popular local hamburger restaurant, is practically hidden. Its unassuming facade hardly hints at the local treasures that are tucked inside. Seventeen artists share this small room to display their works. Much talent is here for anyone to see and purchase.
The idea of a gallery co-op is brilliant. Here artists have an opportunity to share ideas, practice their skills and display their best pieces while splitting the bill. Such an idea never occurred to me, but once I saw it in action, I was hooked! I wanted to be a part of this group.
I believe there are probably numerous artist co-ops throughout the country. I have never taken the time to research them, but now my interest levels are peaked. I have been steadily practicing my painting skills and displaying my pieces here for the past four months. I have a long way to go in developing my style and technique, but I am excited to share where I am now and look forward to how I will grow in the future. This is a wonderful creative community!
The art rotates twice a year with new pieces arrive in April and November. My November pieces were my first go. I am excited about the paintings I am working on for April.
As you can see, there are a range of styles at the gallery. Perhaps there is something for you! Stop by Tuesday - Saturday anytime between 11AM - 3PM to see these and more!
The Studio Gallery is located at 2646 W Britton Rd, Oklahoma City, OK 73120. See you there!
